Glen Ghirardi and Rena

Glen is a resident of Morgan City, LA. Glen became aquainted with Magic in 1966. After many months of research and hard practice, he developed an act. After two years of performing, he became tired of standard magic and decided to venture into an act requiring additional skills and manipulations, using doves, fire, canes and silks. This upgraded act has awarded him numerous standing ovations. In 1970, he had an opportunity to perform for his peers. Since magicians know most of the tricks and secrets, they are obviously difficult to perform for; however, if they like your magic they are quick with praise and encouragement. Glen's act has been described as, "smooth, sophisticated, colorful, fast-moving, flashy and exciting." he has also been called a "Magician's Magician." The highlight of Glen's magical career occured in 1976 when he was the recipient of the prestigious "Originality Award," given at the International Brotherhood of Magicians Convention in Evansville, Indiana. In order to qualify for this award, a trick must be original and must be performed before a panel of judges. If there are no tricks that merit the award, it is not given out. There had been no recipient of the award for four consecutive years prior to Glen winning it. The winning trick was known as "The Ghirardi Multiplying Canes." Glen has also had several of his original tricks printed in magic books and a magazine in Europe. Glen performs all types of magic and has performed for civic and social groups, birthday parties, banquets, shopping malls, schools, company parties and picnics. Glen is a member of the "Earle Christenberry, Jr. I.B.M. Ring No. 27" of New Orleans and founder of "Glen Ghirardi I.B.M. Ring No. 214" of Lafayette. He is also an International Brotherhood of Magicians Territorial Representative of Louisiana.
